Great Outdoors

Isaac & Dad Hiking Through the Woods
by Isaac

I enjoy walking in the woods with my Dad.  It is fun because we can talk to each other while it is quiet and no other kids are there.  We look around at trees and grass.  There is a tree I really like to climb that we call the Octopus Tree because it has a whole bunch of branches going down.  Sometimes we even walk to a stream.  Once I got stuck on the other side of a stream and had to cross a log to get back.

This robber has good reason to worry -- when Iron Man smashes his hand through the wall!

Werd Hoses

Gracie has plastered our dining room wall with a gallery of thousands (okay, more like 10, but it seems like thousands) of Werd Hoses. -- I do believe she meant "Weird Horses."

I loved the variety from horse to horse and thought I'd post a few...

And here's a picture Lily added to the mix:

Oink Oink

Our local Culver's restaurant had a contest for kids to draw a picture from their favorite book. Lily had recently done this for Illustration Friday (see 9 posts below). She made another picture based on Arthur Geisert's "Oink Oink" -- this time in color. Well, Lily's picture won top prize! It's on display in a frame behind the counter. Lily was beaming! And she also pocketed fabulous prizes. Congratulations Lily!

Save or Trade?

It's been a while since I've posted any Family Trading Cards, so... here are some more.  We have well over 400 cards currently in play, so the following are a mere sampling.  The ones I'm sharing today come primarily from the collections that Gracie and Isaac have saved.  Enjoy!

"Homage" by Isaac

We have well over 2,100 children's books at home in our collection. Dad told the kids to pick their favorite story and draw a literary tribute to it. The following "homage" pictures are the result....

The Horned King from "The Book of Three" by Lloyd Alexander

Dad has to say, I think Isaac's design here is the best imagining of the Horned King I have EVER seen! Way cool!
